just curious how it is possible for one side of the deal to end up with more picks/players than the other side. Looking at this deal, Jersey 18's end up with 2 extra picks/players. Won't that mean Jersey 18's is over the roster limit of 28 and TSHC will be under the roster size by 2?

You can have as little as 20 guys or as high as you want...just have to get it back DOWN to 28 by next July 1.

No problem. It's the same in the other league (why people had to drop players on July 1).

I'm assuming I can pick up some players over the season as well...

Of course. Rosters go up and down over the course of the season. You have to drop someone to pick someone up (free agency) but prospects can be dropped. So, for example, the player you take in the 10th round is eligible to be dropped for a guy to go on your roster.

Or if you have a roster spot available, can you simply pick someone up off waivers/free agency?

so you now have 7 more guys on your roster than anyone else for the whole season? and two extra prospects?

This was my assumption. I thought I could pick up two players later. Do I have to lose a prospect then to fill my roster?
