Just brought this up in the league I commish that has nearly identical rules to this one...
The rules as they currently stand stipulate that:
"A player will remain a prospect until he is dropped after 4 or 5 years respectively, or is called up onto a roster at any time."
This means that if a prospect is dropped for a player (clarification: to drop a prospect he must first be technically "called up" before being dropped), he cannot be drafted in future prospect drafts, even if they have played few enough games to still be labeled a prospect otherwise.
I suggest we change this rule so that prospects who are "called up" and dropped, but still have played fewer than 25 games (20 if a goalie), are allowed to be drafted in future prospects drafts.
Thoughts?

I'd personally love that rule change. For one thing, it is otherwise hard to recall which players were drafted in the Prospect Draft and later dropped before playing the 25 games. Does anyone have a list? I know, for example, that I dropped Tom Kuhnhackl. Or at least I think I did. And that is sort of my point. Who can remember such things?

I think it makes perfect sense. Another way to achieve the same result would be to allow teams to waive a prospect (without having to call him up first) in the free agency rules.

Once any formerly owned player becomes a KL free agent his status gets reset based on his NHL experience.
What does everyone think about that addition? Simple and clear.
